Walking Home Alone

As part of our duty of care towards our pupils, we have reviewed the procedure for allowing those children who have permission to walk home with parental supervision to leave the school premises at the end of the school day.

We have updated our approval procedure with the introduction of a form to obtain parental permission.  You will need to complete and return this form to the school office.

Upon receipt of your approval form, your child will be issued with a walking home pass, which they are to keep with them so that it can be shown when leaving the school premises.  Staff on the gate will ask to see this card and without it the child will not be allowed out of the school grounds.  Once they have left the school premises, they cease to be the responsibility of the school.

If your child loses their walking home pass, a replacement can be arranged at a cost of 20p, with the school office.  This can be purchased via Scopay; please also e-mail the office to alert us to the order.

We would also like to remind you that

- children who have a walking home pass will be permitted to leave if they show their pass on the relevant day; staff on the gate are not expected to know individual club and pick up arrangements.

- children are expected to remember their arrangements for after school, including clubs.  If they have any doubts or no one is at their meeting point, they should come to the office who will call home.

- it is important that your child is visible when walking home on darker evenings.
